New Years’ holidays are in the past now and active trade on Helsinki stock exchange is back. Week’s total turnover amounted to EUR 4,886,573,568 in third week of the year. Major indices, OMX Helsinki and OMX Helsinki 25, fluctuated during the week, but, overall, there were no dramatic changes in their values. OMX Hesinki decreased by 0.67% and OMX Helsinki 25 went up by 0.18% only.
Tekla Corporation (TLA1V) supports the core processes of its customers with model-based software solutions. The company focuses on selected industries, which are building and construction, energy distribution and municipalities. The increase in the share price of Tekla Corporation was the largest during this week and it was +11.932%. It can be influenced by the fact that Tekla’s performance in 2005 was better than previously estimated. In the middle of December the company estimated that the net sales for 2005 will increase about 18% compared to the comparable net sales for 2004 (31.67 million Euros) but actually net sales were 38 million Euros. Tekla's Financial Statements 2005 bulletin will be announced on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. However, there was a slight decrease in the share price during the last two days of week 3 because the turnover had dropped down.
Fortum Corporation (FUM1V) aims to be the leading energy company in the Nordic countries. Its core business cover electricity and heat generation, sales and distribution, operation and maintenance services as well as other related services. Week 3, 2006 was very successful for the investors of Fortum Corporation. The share price of this company had increased by +7.53% (from 17.13 to 18.42). The turnover went up to 5,083,268 euros. The reason is that Fortum Corporation received additional capacity of the power by increasing the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant. Fortum's affiliate OKG is going to increase the power of the 3rd unit of the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant from the current 1200 megawatts to 1450 megawatts. The investment will be mainly realized in 2008. Senior Vice President Tapio Kuula of Fortum says, "The investment is important to Fortum, because it increases our carbon dioxide- free production capacity that we can offer to the Nordic electricity market".
Scanfil Plc (SCF1V) is a global contract manufacturer and systems supplier for communication and industrial electronics with over 30 years experience in demanding contract manufacturing. The price of share decreased dramatically by -16.886% during this week Such a significant decrease of share price can be partly explained by publishing Scanfil Plc’s prospects for 2006 on January 17. As the company reported earlier, the prices and delivery volumes of broadband products decreased significantly in 2005. In 2006, the demand in this product group is predicted not to exceed the current level. Hence, the Group’s sales in the first half of 2006 are estimated to be about 15% lower comparing with the corresponding period last year.
Elcoteq SE (ELQAV) is a global electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company with design capabilities. They are focused on communications technology customers and products. The share price of Elcoteq SE fell down by -7.234% (from EUR21.15 to EUR19.62). The reason is that Elcoteq divested its German subsidiary Elcoteq Elektronik GmbH and the manufacturing plant in Überlingen, Germany, to the German company Rafi GmbH & Co. KG. The enterprise value of the divested subsidiary is approximately 6 million euros. Hence the strategic importance of the Überlingen plant in Elcoteq's service network has substantially decreased and Überlingen's role in Elcoteq's plant and service network has declined significantly over the past two years.
