Estonian Stock Market Overview05/12/2005-09/12/2005
It seems that the closer to Christmas, the hotter Estonian share market gets. During this week it reached an extraordinary high turnover of €27,453,680.29, which is almost 4.5 times bigger comparing with the previous week. Moreover, there were 2100 deals made though Tallinn OMX index decreased by 0.61% to 673.65. The greatest turnover of €18,559,952.24 was made by AS Tallink (TAL1T), which also took a major part of deals – 1227. 9 companies, mostly from the Baltic I-List, were happy with increases in their share value. The hugest growth of the value of shares of 12.80% was reached by AS Baltika (BLT1T). The first week of winter was not so successful for 6 companies, but they still have almost two weeks to prepare presents for their investors.
Leading provider of high-quality mini-cruise and passenger transport services AS Tallink (TAL1T) made its first emission of shares on Friday. During the first day of trading, the stock value decreased marginally although the investors were hoping for a dramatic increase. Buying the shares is not a good investment in the short run, but in the long run it should face a huge rise.
The top specialized fashion retailer in the Baltic region AS Baltika (BLT1T) announced its positive results of sales in November on Wednesday. This was the main reason why the value of their shares went up by 12.80% and reached the highest value ever. The investors are expecting the annual financial report of this firm to be excellent, so the demand for the shares will increase or at least remain the same till the end of the year.
The main water supplier of Tallinn AS Tallinna Vesi (TVEAT) had a decrease of 2.83% of their share value falling from €13.77 to €13.41. The price of shares might have gone down because the investment bank Suprema, which covers this share, valued it approximately €13.00 for the following period of 12-18 months. So, during the next few months it is expected that the value of shares will fluctuate around €13.00.
