SSE (Stockholm) Market Overviews

29/10/2007 - 02/11/2007

The OMX Stockholm 30 Index (OMXS30) during the week decreased by 2.0% as 15 companies advanced and 15 dropped. The decrease was caused by impressible price declines in several leading Swedish companies. The companies whose stock price changes will be analyzed this week are LM Ericsson Telefon AB (ERIC A), Svenska Cellulosa AB (SCA B) and Hexagon AB (HEXA B).

LM Ericsson Telefon AB (ERIC A), one of the world’s largest telecommunication companies, had its share price this week declined by 2.49% and ended week with closing price €2.00. Ericsson’s share price had been decreasing already for several weeks. One of the reasons for such situation is its third-quarter earnings forecast that included serious profit warning on October 16 which leaded to subsequent fall in its share price. As a result in the very end of October, company announced that its chief financial officer Karl-Henrik Sundström steps down. Ericsson has made this decision to rebuild investor trust. Mr Sundström will be immediately replaced by Hans Vestberg, the head of global services. Company expects in such way improve the Ericsson position in the stock exchange market and next weeks will show whether they have managed to do that.

Svenska Cellulosa AB (SCA B) share price this week experienced an increase of 0.90% and its closing price this week was €12.34. Svenska Cellulosa is a global consumer goods and paper company that develops, produces and markets personal care products, tissue, packaging solutions, publication papers and solid-wood products. Sales are conducted in some 90 countries. Company’s share price is increasing step by step and this most probably is caused by its Interim report 1 January - 30 September 2007, which was published in October 31. This report confirmed that the improvement in earnings compared with the previous year is continuing. Profit before tax was 17% higher and all business areas improved their operating profit. This obviously positive tended report may seem rather attractive to investors during next weeks as well.

Hexagon AB (HEXA B), the world's biggest maker of surveying equipment, had a huge increase of +11.68% and ended the week at €16.25 per share. The company reported a strong cash flow and very high profitability: its third-quarter profit rose by +61%, which was the effect of acquisition of five companies this quarter and a recent agreement to buy Canadian Novatel Inc. for €270 million in order to add some new measurement tools that use satellite navigation systems. Ola Rollen, CEO of Hexagon AB, announced that there will be even more acquisitions in the fourth quarter. If they keep up their promises, the share price might boost to the new heights.
