TSE (Tallinn) Market Overviews

OMX Tallinn, like most of the indexes, declined last week. The total loss was 1.31%. The turnover reached to EUR 19.6 million, which is nearly five times higher than the week before. It is good that the liquidity is growing, as it makes the market much more stable, especially in such bearish trends. However, the week before, there was also a day without trading, so that it also an important reason for a low trading volume. Only four stocks managed to stay on the green side, the biggest increaser was Saku (SKU1T) with 3.18%. From the stocks which headed to south this week, the two with the biggest drops were experienced by Baltika (BLT1T) with -6.49% and Eesti Ehitus (EEH1T) with -4.12%.

During this week Saku Õlletehas (SKU1T) experienced the biggest success at Tallinn Stock Exchange. Its shares increased in price by 3.18% from 12.6 to 13 EUR. Nevertheless, there were not very many deals, only 17 and the turnover was 13176,9 EUR. It is hard to find the reasons for the increase in price of Saku Õlletehas’ index. Probably, the holidays had a small affect on it, as during this time Saku Õlletehas made very big profits by selling its production (alcoholic long drinks). The future increase of Saku share price is not very obvious, as there are still very many restrictions on selling alcohol all over Estonia and profits of Saku Õlletehas are decreasing.

During the remarkably bearish week, there were two biggest losers, Baltika Group (BLT1T) and Eesti Ehitus (EEH1T), which fell by 6.49% and 4.12% respectively. While booming demand for clothes at Christmas showed an increase for Baltika, designer clothes do not sell as good anymore, whereas releases of new collections for spring are yet far. On the 9th of January, Eesti Ehitus concluded a loan agreement with Sampo bank for 5 years, hence the fall of the stock price. The purpose of the loan is a payment for 52% of the Eesti Ehitus shares. The weekly turnovers were 42 641.82 EUR for Eesti Ehitus and 177 040,73 EUR for Baltika.

Olympic Entertainment group (OEG1T) had the bigger number of deals this week, 313 in total.  The investors are interested in OEG as recently it has constructed a new casino in Ukraine ( Kiev) and casino is also becoming more and more popular entertainment. Although, this week the index’ price of Olympic decreased, its shares are still expected to be popular among investors.
