Helsinki Stock Market Overview (HEX) 01/01/2007 – 05/01/2007
 
During the week the OMX Helsinki 25 (OMXH25) index has decreased by 1.15 % from 2871.37 to 2838.35. The number of stocks which have gained in value over the week is 73. The number of stocks which faced a decrease in value over the week is 67. The overall turnover throughout the week is 1 460 333 129 EUR. Two major week winners are SSH Communications Security and TJ Group. Two week losers are Outokumpu Technology and Nokian Renkaat.
 
This week Tecnomen (TEM1V) shares increased by 7.14% and reached 1.79 Euro per share. This company develops and supplies messaging and charging solutions for telecom operators and service providers worldwide. Such an increase took place because Vodacom has selected Tecnomen as one of their preferred suppliers for carrier-class VXML-based IVR applications. This contract again validates Tecnomen as a leading vendor of Next Generation messaging technology, said Miika Reinikka, Vice President for Messaging products at Tecnomen.
 
Sponda (SDA1V) is a real estate company specializing in commercial properties in Helsinki Metropolitan Area. It is also the largest real estate investment company listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. During the week 156 011 shares were traded, and they have increased by 6.58 % to 12.69 EUR per share. This is because Sponda has sold to Sato-Rakennuttajat a block of apartment buildings with almost 17,000 floor square meters in the Linnanmaa district in Oulu for EUR 3.65 million. Next week shares will continue to rise because of the decision of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Sponda Plc to issue a maximum of 79 307 275 new shares with a nominal value of one 1 EUR.
 
Fortum (FUM1V) is a leading energy company in the Nordic countries and other parts of the Baltic Rim area. Their activities cover the generation, distribution and sale of electricity and heat, the operation and maintenance of power plants as well as energy related services. In this week the shares of the company have decreased by 3,53% and reached a price of 20,23 EUR per share. Shares of Fortum had the biggest demand, 6 285 404 shares were sold. The reasons for the decrease are cancellation of its 1,660,000 shares in December 2006 and decrease in share capital afterwards. In the next week the price of Fortum shares might increase, because company is buying 100% of the shares in Vattenfall Estonia AS and 100% of the shares in Vattenfall Latvia SIA, both providing heat in two Baltic countries.
 
The shares of TietoEnator (TIEIV), one of the largest IT services providers in Europe, have decreased by 4.63% and reached 23.31 EUR per share at the end of the week. These shares had one of the biggest demands in the Helsinki Stock Market this week – total volume was 1.109 million shares traded. The decrease can be explained by the fact that the firm has decides to cancel all the company’s shares acquired in September 2006, it is 1.745 million shares or about 2.2 %. In the following week the share prices will increase because TietoEnator has acquired “Abaris” – the Nordic provider of securities processing solutions, through which were processed about 25 % of all the transactions on the Nordic stock exchanges.
